Knokke-Heist, on the Belgian coast, will soon get a make-over with the support of our Urban experts from several disciplines, including transport infrastructure, spatial design, mobility and structural engineering. 

Among the major changes and improvements aiming at enhancing quality of life is the replacement of a 2 km through-route. To bring the town’s restaurant zone and northern coastal areas closer together, the through-road will be reduced from 2 x 2 lanes to 2 x 1 lane. The road's green nature will be enhanced and new open spaces created. New esplanade, landscaped garden and pedestrian squares will create high-value desirable spaces, each with its own character. A notable addition will be a large municipal roof that will provide all-weather protection for public events.
